President Trump proclaimed a National Day of Prayer on Thursday, just hours after he admitted to reimbursing attorney Michael Cohen’s hush money to Stormy Daniels.
Daniels alleges she had a sexual encounter with the president in 2006; President Trump holds this isn’t true. The White House states that Trump had no knowledge of the aforementioned financial arrangement.
Before the prayer service took place in the Rose Garden, Trump tweeted that the payments made before his election had “nothing to do with the campaign,” reports Boston.com.
On Thursday, the president posted a tweet that read, “Today, it was my great honor to celebrate the #NationalDayOfPrayer at the @WhiteHouse, in the Rose Garden! Proclamation: http://45.wh.gov/U33k7z.”
The irony was not lost on the public, and people took to social media to comment.
Many responded to Trump’s tweet with a variety of bible verses. Others wrote things like, “Pray for our president to be replaced.”

And some told the president that a day of prayer wouldn’t be enough to save him:

Melania Trump was noticeably missing from Thursday’s prayer event. Multiple people noted her absence, with one individual taking to Twitter to ‘pray’ for the couple’s marriage:
