Sometimes, companies can be pretty tone-deaf when it comes to ads and campaigns. There are moments where you’ll see something extremely offensive and wonder–how the f*ck did this get accepted and then published? Recently, Snapchat published an ad on their platform that basically poked fun at the 2009 domestic assault between Chris Brown and Rihanna.
The ad was sponsored by the app “Would You Rather,” but obviously, was accepted by someone on the Snapchat staff. The ad asked users “Would you rather slap Rihanna or punch Chris Brown?” Clearly, not cool.
Is it just me, or is this ad that popped up on my Snapchat extremely tone deaf? Like what were they thinking with this? pic.twitter.com/7kP9RHcgNG

Even Chelsea Clinton spoke out on Twitter against this.
Just awful. Awful that anyone thinks this is funny. Awful that anyone thinks this is appropriate. Awful that any company would approve this. Thank you Brittany for calling this out.

And, when Rihanna spoke out, she outright dragged Snapchat for allowing something that mocks domestic violence victims to be shown on their app.

Now, Rihanna fans are saying it’s over for Snapchat and they no longer want to use the app.
