There aren’t many things that make me slap my forehead in disbelief at how stupid people are, but this takes the cake. A recent commercial aired on TV with people “thanking” President Trump for a number of things he has done, but in reality, I haven’t seen him doing one of these things. From cutting taxes, to supporting Vets, and “supporting Israel,” people thank him for a multitude of things. The commercial ends with a little girl tugging at viewer’s heartstrings thanking the President for allowing us to say “Merry Christmas” again – ending the war on Christmas.
Look, I’ll be honest, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with saying Merry Christmas. But, I do believe saying “Happy Holidays” is inclusive to all. I’m Jewish, for example, and when someone says Merry Christmas to me, I’m not offended and I will say Merry Christmas back. However, I do say “Happy Holidays” to the majority of people, seeing as I, myself, don’t celebrate only Christmas, but also Hanukkah. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being inclusive to all people. The holiday season includes more than just Christmas. And, I don’t personally believe that’s attacking anyone’s holiday, I still believe Christmas is a wonderful holiday and the traditions that correlate to it are great.
Apparently, people are so sensitive to the idea that we include everyone during the holiday season, and Trump is one of them. He said at a rally earlier this month in Utah he would “be bringing Christmas back.”
Christmas is back, bigger and better than ever before. We’re bringing Christmas back.
I’m sorry Trump, where did Christmas go?
I’ve never understood the term “The War on Christmas,” but, that’s just me. If Trump is really offended that people are saying “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas,” he should speak to his children.
