Hate To Break It To You But You’ve Been Singing The ‘Friends’ Theme Song Wrong For Years

Whenever a show becomes a staple of society, it’s no secret that we memorize the theme song pretty quickly. No matter how much time passes since you’ve seen an episode, you can pretty much recite the theme word-for-word.
Of course, “Friends” is just one of those shows that has a contagious theme song that we can’t stop singing along to. Plus, it was probably everyone’s “candle song” at their Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and Sweet 16’s for their friends.

While we know the song pretty damn well–it turns out–we don’t know it was well as we thought. In fact, I recently found out I’ve been singing the tune wrong for years, and, I’ll be honest you probably have been too.

Last week, The Rembrandts (who happen to be the band behind the hit song “I’ll Be There For You) were featured on an episode of ITV’s Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. While guest starring on the show in Florida, they performed their hit song–and, gave us some mind-blowing info.

A woman on the show took part in the show’s segment called “Singalong Live” and tried to win a grand prize by singing the “Friends” theme song, but, lost when she sang the lyric:

“When the rain starts to fall.”

It turns out, the correct lyrics are

“When the rain starts to pour.”

Welp, I’ve definitely been singing this wrong for…my entire life. It turns out, everyone else has been, too.
