Sarah Huckabee Sanders Tweets In Support Of Malia Obama–And We’re Impressed

It’s hard to be a kid in the spotlight, especially, when you’re involved in politics. Many Presidents have entered the White House with not only a First Lady but also children and families. However, former President Barack Obama was elected in 2008 when his daughters were relatively young. Malia Obama was 10-years-old and Sasha Obama was only 7-years-old. After serving two terms as President of the United States, the girls practically grew up around politics, problems, and controversy. Lucky for them both, Barack and Michelle Obama are two of the greatest people around. But, after Barack left the White House and the family moved on from their two-year run, it was time for the girls to adjust to a more “normal life.” And, it was time for Malia to go to college.

The oldest of the Obama girls got accepted to Harvard University where she started school last Fall. Recently, a video of Malia surfaced online of her blowing smoke rings. People are generally assuming that Malia is smoking weed and, of course, judging her for her choices. Let’s face it, kids in college are going to experiment with alcohol and drugs – it’s a known fact. Don’t sit up on your pedestal and act super high and mighty when I’m sure you – or even your own kids – have tried it.

And, yet, Republicans still came down on Malia pretty hard. Numerous media outlets turned the small story into something sensational, questioning the parenting of both Barack and Michelle Obama. They claimed that the video shows a “lack of control” on Malia’s party, citing there was also a video leaked of Malia kissing a boy at a party. My answer? So F*cking What. She is in college, she is living her best life – why are you so concerned with what she’s doing when she has no control over you or the politics of the country? And, many people agree with me.

Not so surprisingly, many people came to Malia’s defense. Surprisingly, some of them were Republicans such as Sarah Sanders and Ivanka Trump.

Chelsea Clinton also weighed in.

As did the rest of Twitter.
