Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Only Follows One Person On Instagram—And It’s Everything

Everyone loves Reese’s candy. Chocolate. Peanut butter. Bite-sized. What could be better?

This:

A fan of Reese’s, who gues by @julp, recently pointed out on Twitter that while over 100,000 people follow the candy on social media, they only follow 1 person.

Who’s that lucky duck? Reese Witherspoon.

Why? Well, if you haven’t picked up on it yet, the actress’s name is spelled, well, R-E-E-S-E.

Witherspoon Is in on the Joke

After news of this realization started to spread on Tuesday, the brand’s official Twitter simply responded to @julp’s tweet, “She has a great name.”

As of Tuesday morning, @Julp’s initial Tweet had 228 likes. The brand’s Twitter response had 30 likes.

The coincidence isn’t at all lost on the actress, who, in 2016, posted a Halloween photo of Reese’s PB Cups, with the caption, “My Pieces.”

That same year, Reese’s tweeted at Witherspoon: “How does Reese Witherspoon eat her Reese’s? WITH-HER-SPOON.”

In 2017, the actress uploaded a video to Twitter of her hiding a secret stash of the candy in her bag. She captioned it “#ReesesForLife”.

Another noteworthy moment took place in 2016, when Reese Witherspoon commented on a post about a Reese’s peanut butter pizza, writing that it should be called a Reesza. The Reese’s brand’s official page shot back, “@RWitherspoon Reesza has now been added to our vocabulary. By the way, that looks delicious!”

People have taken to social media to comment on the situation.

One person, Robby Hesselbrock, took to Twitter to write that KFC only follows 6 guys named Herb, and all the Spice Girls.

But will the superstar actress return the follow? At this point, Witherspoon is not following the Reese’s brand, even though she follows 454 other users. But if news of the social media stunt goes viral, it’s only a matter of time before she does…
