Man Tries To Get Out Of Conversation With A Talkative Neighbor–And It Backfired Terribly

There are moments in our lives where we will find ourselves stuck in a conversation with someone we really, really don’t want to talk to. Whether it’s our in-laws, a colleague or a neighbor – when they go on and on about their cats, their children or their problems, we usually want to check out ASAP. There are only 24 hours in a day and no one wants to spend 1-2 of them involved in a boring exchange with someone we barely like. So, what do we do? Come up with brilliant excuses, obviously. From the “fake cell phone ring” to the “I have to check on my lasagna in the oven,” we are always looking for brilliant ways to say “bye” in the politest way possible. But, there’s always a chance that our excuses completely backfire. Like, Greg Fitzsimmons and his “ice excuse.” Greg was involved in a convo with his neighbor he clearly wasn’t into and decided to tell her he needed to run to the store to grab some ice. Turns out, his neighbor also needed some ice. So – where did that leave Greg?

Total and epic fail, my friend. You should have come up with something a bit better, an excuse that you’d never have to involve her in – like washing your dog or clipping your toenails, no one wants to be involved with that. People on Twitter thought this was so funny, that Greg should pitch it to Larry David for a brilliant episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm (let’s face it, this is so a Larry David thing).
