Many people believe how you dress everyday sends a message about who you are as a person. If I left the house in sweatpants every singe day, people would immediately assume I’m lazy. But, I may just work from home on my multi-billion dollar app idea and no one knows. It’s all a matter or perception. Apparently, though, some places really judge you pretty harshly on how you’re dressed, like an airport lounge. I’ve heard of places not allowing customers in when they’re dressed poorly (you know, no shoes, no shirt, no service), but, over Uggs? That’s a bit much. One woman shared the horror story on her Twitter account after trying to enter an airport lounge in Melbourne. Vocalist Joanne Catherall, from The Human League, was told she could not go into the frequent-flyer lounge for the company Qantas because she was wearing Ugg boots. Seeing as she was in Melbourne, it’s a bit ironic (Uggs are from Australia, y’all).
Denied access @Qantas business class lounge in @Melair Melbourne Airport apparently Ugg (Australia) Boots are deemed sleepwear by the lady working there although no problem in any of the other lounges so far.Helpfully she suggested I go to one of the shops & purchase some shoes

The company responded by saying they do have a drsesscode for their lounges and Joanne can view them online. Seems like a half-ass apology if you ask me.
Hi Joanne, we endeavour to remain consistent and uphold our Lounge's dress guidelines to all our guests . You may find details here: https://t.co/oiCgy2V1jR. Mark

I’m not a fan of Uggs, but I am a fan of traveling comfortably. No one wants to wear high heals or anything fancy on a plane when you’ll be sitting in a tiny seat and have little-to-no legroom. Come on now, think people. Joanne did read through the rules and wondered why Ugg boots were considered “sleepwear” and not “outdoor wear.”
Why would an @UGG boot I wear outdoors in all weathers be classed as sleepwear in @Qantas lounge but nowhere else that I have ever been on this earth ? pic.twitter.com/G04kWSN4c4

Their response?
Hi Joanne, we don't accept them in our lounges as you can see on the dress-guidelines. Issy

Ouch. Pretty much shut-down. I’m definitely not flying with Qantas anytime soon, they seem too much of snobs for me to spend my hard-earned money flying with them. And, Twitter agreed.
I’m sorry but @Qantas this is pure snobbery. I always wear Ugg boots to travel in as they r so comfy & ive never not been allowed in a Lounge in America, Europe or the UK

Uggboots are No sleepwear. Why you don't allow them in a business class lounge. They look similar to some sort of sleepwear shoes. Please inform yourself and do not forget that passenger should fly comfortably.

Maybe it's best to boycott @Qanatas like the NFL. You folks need to review your rules.

Agreed.
