Selena Gomez Reveals That She Has A New Album Coming ‘Very Soon’ In New Interview

Pop sensation, fashion icon, tabloid magnet, and former fictional teen witch Selena Gomez has had quite the busy year. She had a high-profile romance and then breakup with The Weeknd. Then she got back together with her one true love, Justin Bieber. She also had to counteract the devastating effects of lupus with a life-saving kidney transplant from her best friend Francia Raisa. (Yeah, now that’s a friend.) She also went blonde!

In addition to and in spite of all that, Gomez somehow found time this year to do a bit of the thing that actually made her famous and popular in the first place: pop music.

In an interview with Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio, Gomez was prodded about when fans “might” hear some hot tracks. Then she dropped this bombshell: “There is no might,” Gomez said. “There is an album.”

Even better: It might be her most creatively ambitious album to date because after how her life’s been going lately, she’s got something to say. “I think it’s fair to say that people know the year I’ve had, and I’ve poured my heart into my music and I wanted it to be fresh,” Gomez added. “It wasn’t really about charts for me or numbers. It was more just about what I could creatively do for my music.”

Additional proof that Gomez’s first album in more than two years is in the offing: Yesterday, the singer posted an Instagram shot of herself in the recording studio.

Gomez didn’t say exactly when that new album would drop, but no matter. It’s a bit of an understatement to say that her fans on Twitter are hyped.
