Rats get a bad rap. When they’re not foraging for food in our garbage can or running all over the streets of any given major city, they’re creeping us out with their gross, vermin-like ways. Okay, so they get a bad rap because they deserve it, those disease-covered little monsters.
But people, and animals can change. Rats are dirty, but maybe they don’t want to be. One rat in particular—there could be more, who knows?—was caught on camera showering. Like he’s literally showering, standing on its hind legs, using soap, getting itself all clean before it starts its big day of hanging out in the sewer and running away from cats, presumably. Or maybe it’s got a big date with previous viral sensation Pizza Rat?
Reportedly, a DJ named Jose Correa caught the critter in his shower on Saturday morning. He did what one ought to do in such a situation—grabbed his phone to take a video—and put it on the internet. It’s now gone viral, because of course it has, because it’s a video of a rat showering himself just like a human being would.

People on Twitter were a mix of delighted and stunned into a state of disbelief.
