Pope Francis Just Celebrated His Birthday With A Pizza Party—And He’s Truly One Of Us

From the ripe age of 5-years-old, every kid dreams of having a pizza party for their birthday. You remember the good old days when we’d attend one of those cheesy kids parties with a magician or a clown, but you really just looked forward to your slice of pizza and goody bag. Ah, the best of times when we were rewarded for being social with kids who were covered in boogers and smelled like cheese. Now, we truly look back and miss the days of easy birthday parties, because hardly any of our friends have food when celebrating (side note, if they did, I’d probably go to more birthday parties). But, it seems as though Pope Francis knows a thing or two about celebrating birthdays because he partied on with a 13-inch-long pizza.

Not only did he celebrate his 81st birthday with a giant pizza, he also brought in the big number with sick children at the Vatican. Talk about a stand-up guy. 81-years-old and living his best life eating a giant pizza, but, sharing it with the less fortunate? It sounds like the holiest of days. No wonder everyone loves Pope Francis, he’s seriously the greatest guy around.

Twitter users obviously were applauding The Pope for his seriously sweet efforts in making his birthday more about the children and less about himself, what more could you ask for in a Pope, anyway? And, he is truly the people’s Pope if he’s blowing out candles on a pizza instead of a cake. I mean, same.
