The Rock Talks About Growing Up Poor In Grateful Thanksgiving Instagram Post

Every Thanksgiving, we try to stop and remind ourselves how incredibly blessed we truly are. My family has a tradition where we all say one thing we are truly thankful for at the Thanksgiving table. While it seems silly, it’s a good and humbling experience to stop and “smell the roses,” as my mother says. It’s important to remember not only where you currently are in life, but where you have come from and how hard you have worked to get there. If anyone understands this, it’s Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The actor, wrestler, and all around great guy shared a beautiful Instagram post this Thanksgiving and it will bring a tear or two to your eyes.

After we bowed our heads in prayer, we went around the table and everyone shared what they were thankful for.
Beautiful seeing and listening to everyone speak from their heart. Tears, laughter and boundless gratitude.
Personally, I’m a little surprised no one expressed how thankful they were that THE Sexiest Man Alive (I refuse to relinquish my title to Blake Shelton or any man) was sitting at the table. I didn’t want to be a dick and interrupt the prayer, but at some point someones gotta address the elephant in the room.
Jokes aside, it was a very special Thanksgiving. As my mom pointed out earlier in the day, there was a time back in ‘87 when we couldn’t even afford Thanksgiving dinner and was praying someone would invite us over their house to eat. We were in a tough spot back then, but we got thru it.
And here we are today.
One big, extended, blended, slightly crazy, loving, grateful ohana.

It’s touching and beautiful to hear that The Rock and his family are humbled and thankful for where they are in their life now, compared to where they were in the past. While everyone struggles, it’s important to appreciate how much the struggles have impacted you and brought out some serious changes in perspective. Fans and followers of The Rock took to the post to show their appreciation for his candid caption and inspirational words.

Remember to be thankful, y’all.
