Last Monday morning, a heartless thief (or thieves) broke into the Melbourne home of Ryan and Elena Sardi and made off with a laptop, iPad, jewelry, and an 8-year-old Labrador puppy named Sasha.
Their four-year-old daughter Maia was devastated. The family was concerned about Sasha’s health, as she hadn’t yet had all her necessary puppy vaccinations. The story quickly made the rounds around the country, and the Sardis were overwhelmed with the outpouring of support. The family made a public appeal for help saying their daughter Maia was “heartbroken.”
Something must have worked, because the puppy was returned.
“I can’t believe it’s really amazing,” Ryan said on Australia’s The Today Show. We had our fingers crossed but we didn’t want to get our hopes up. This morning my wife got up to make herself a coffee, walked past the sliding door, and noticed there was a figure moving by the kennel and started thinking, ‘is it Sasha, is it Sasha?’ and started screaming out, and, it was.”

The family thinks that whoever took her “had a conscious or got scared” and just dropped her back over the fence surrounding the family’s backyard. Naturally, Twitter was excited.
