Racist Country Singer Under Fire For New Song–Because Of Its Terrible Grammar

With the political climate being so complex and sensational right now, there is literally no hiding from controversy. Even when trying to wind down on a Sunday afternoon and put your head into something other than the news and the presidency,  it’s hard to escape political controversy. NFL players have been protesting against standing during the National Anthem in response to the mistreatment of black Americans by the police and other political forces. While many people agree with the message and the protests, others believe it’s a form of disrespect towards the country, the flag and those who have fought to defend our freedom. Country singer Neal McCoy falls in the latter camp.

McCoy is a ’90s country singer who doesn’t support the protests that are occurring amongst players in the NFL and other sports. So, he decided to release a new song called “Take A Knee, My Ass (I Won’t Take A Knee). The song’s message basically reinstates McCoy’s belief that taking a knee is disrespectful to America and people who fight for our freedoms. He shared the post on Facebook Live.

McCoy has a lot of followers on Facebook that believe in his music and his message, so after his fans gave him positive feedback, he created a montage-style music video to go with the song.

But, if you ask people who aren’t fans of McCoy on Facebook, they’re not entirely into the song. Not only is the song blatantly racist and close-minded, there’s also a pretty big grammar issue in the title. If you can’t figure it out, the wonderful people of Twitter are more than happy to help.
