Marlee Matlin’s Response To The Yanny/Laurel Debate Is The Best Thing We’ve Heard All Day

Marlee Matlin, the actor and author who is currently the only deaf performer to have won an Academy Award for Best Actress, can now add “Winning the Internet” to her list of impressive credentials.

As you well know by now, the debate over whether this ambiguous audio clip says “Yanny” or “Laurel” has been captivating the internet’s attention for what seems like weeks (when, in reality, it’s only been a few days).

The determining factor in whether listeners hear “Yanny” or “Laurel” is based on whether their ears are attuned to hearing higher frequencies. Needless to say, the clip has served as a source of frustration to people from both sides of the Laurel/Yanny aisle.

Except for Marlee Matlin, that is.

In a hilarious self-deprecating tweet, Matlin remarked that the debate over the audio clip was quite literally falling on deaf ears.

Obviously, the comment garnered a significant amount of praise from Twitter, and everyone confirmed that Matlin’s comment was definitely the most lucid voice in the entire silly debate.

Congrats on surprising and delighting the hell out of everybody, Marlee! Now, maybe we can officially stop talking about this stupid clip once and for all.
