Scientists Release Study Proving Why You Should Have Sex Before Going To Bed

There are many of us that struggle falling asleep every night. While we’re basically glazed over our desks during the day at work, the minute we crawl into bed, our minds are running at 150 mph and we’re thinking about the meaning of life. Talk about obnoxious. But, if you’re sick and tired of taking sleep aids and wasting money on expensive sheets, essential oils and herbal teas to get you ZZZing faster, science says you may just need to take a trip down to pound-town before you hit the pillow.

According to the study done by Central Queensland University’s Appleton Institute for Behavior Science in Australia, the key to getting a good night’s sleep is having sex before you go to bed. The study surveyed 460 people between the ages of 18 and 70-years-old. The idea of the study was to see whether or not achieving an orgasm can factor into a person’s ability to fall asleep. Ph.D sleep researcher Michele Lastella said:

What we found was 64 per cent of our respondents indicated they slept better when sex was with a partner and it involves an orgasm.

The study states that when we orgasm, we release a hormone known as “oxytocin.” According to the study, the hormone is well known as the love hormone, which, promotes relaxation. It makes sense, seeing as the reason many of us can’t fall asleep at night is because our mind is operating at lightening speed. We’re so worried about every little thing that’s gone on during the day, the week, the month, the last 15 years, that we can’t even imagine falling asleep in peace.

But, the study proves the idea that doing something that will make you feel good (rather than scroll through social media for an hour and a half before bed) can help you get that solid 8-hours you’re looking for overnight.

Lastella added that having sex is a much better way to spend your time-before-bed anyway.

When you’re engaging in sex, you’re not thinking about what to do the next day, you’re not going through your phones. It distracts you.

Let’s face it, when we stay in bed on our phones all night, we’re wide awake because we think, ‘I’ll just read this one more article, I’ll just update my feed one more time.’ When, in reality, we’re not relaxing our minds or our bodies, we’re just putting off our relaxation and giving ourselves more anxiety and stress before we’re supposed to turn in. Doesn’t make much sense, does it? So, instead, boost up that sex life and make some sweet, sweet love. Your body, your mind and your sleep schedule will thank you.

Oh and speaking of sex facts, here are 43 random ones you didn’t really need to know, but we’re going to give them to you anyway.

1. If you smoke, you have a weak d*ck.

According to studies, men and women who smoke have slower responses to sex and genital reproduction (i.e.: cumming). But, studies also show that men who quit smoking have stronger, longer lasting boners.

2. When you’re wasted, the sex isn’t really as good.

People may think that drunk sex is great because you let go of all your inhibitions but in reality, sexual response time isn’t as “strong” when you’re drunk. The alcohol reduces your sexual functions and response time to sexual activity takes way longer when you’re drunk – which isn’t always a good thing.

3. The way women orgasm is specific to increase the chance of pregnancy.

Even if you’re not trying to get pregnant, your body is. When a woman orgasms, her vaginal walls vibrate in such a way that increase the chance of sperm cells reaching eggs to implant and fertilize.

4. Older people have a lot of sex.

According to several medical institutions, men above 70-years-old are experiencing a rise in STI’s and STD’s. As well sexual activity amongst adults 65+ has been reported to have increased over the last several years.

5. Smell is has a lot to do with things.

Studies report that we are more sexually attracted to people who smell good.
