Kim Kardashian Just Revealed Her New Baby’s Name, And Twitter Has Questions

On Monday, Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West announced in a post entitled “She’s Here!” that their third child had been born, via surrogate. The baby girl was reportedly born at 12:47 AM on January 15, weighing in at 7lbs and 6oz.

However, one very important detail was left out of the announcement: the new baby’s name.

Fans spent the week speculating about a potential moniker for the newest addition to the Kardashian clan. Most of the suggestions were low-hanging fruit (such as “South” or “Mid”), but almost everyone agreed that “Wild” was a devastatingly perfect name. After all, how often do people have the opportunity to use “Wild West” as a full legal name?

While it would have been a pretty baller move, Kim and Kanye decided to go an entirely different route. Their new baby daughter is apparently named …

(*Just imagine that a drumroll is happening*)

Chicago.

Yep. Chicago West.

Because if you’re going to prepare your baby for owning their own airline, you’d better do it early.

Twitter was collectively baffled (and a little disappointed) by the decision. Everyone was hoping for some sort of clever wordplay

Kimye’s announcement gave zero explanation for the baby’s unusual name, so fans can only speculate as to the reasoning. Given that Kanye was raised in Chicago by his mother following his parents’ divorce, however, it’s safe to assume that the name holds some emotional significance.

And okay, while calling a baby “Chicago” is always going to sound a bit strange to my ears, I do have to admit: “Chi” is a pretty cute nickname.
