Actress Kelly Marie Tran is a big-screen newcomer. She’s done some small roles on TV shows, but her latest gig is quite the breakthrough role: Tran portrays resistance member Rose Tico in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, a movie that’s proved somewhat popular since its release last weekend.
She’s so new to Hollywood that she’s not really a Hollywood bigshot yet: She’s one of us, a fan of movies (and Star Wars) who can’t believe her good fortune. Tran is soaking it all in on the way to superstardom, and it’s incredibly endearing.
Tran obviously had a great time on the set of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (how could she not?) and made some friends along the way, including costar John Boyega, the breakout star of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This week, Tran posted a photo of herself hugging a display case containing the costume worn by Boyega in his role as Finn.
Boyega replied to the post — which he wasn’t even tagged in, which means he reads Tran’s IG and that they’re really friends — with a sweet “Love you and miss you xxxx.”
Other fans replied with roughly the same sentiment, just more emphatically. (People are shipping hard for these two, both in real life and in the Star Wars universe.)
