Kate McKinnon appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last Tuesday night, and she had some great SNL stories to tell. Perhaps the greatest of these was her recollection of Gal Gadot’s hosting of the show at the beginning of the current season.
“She really made an impact down at SNL,” McKinnon said of Gadot. The comedian then proceeded to do the best Gal Gadot impression anyone has probably ever done as she explained what it was like to work with her. “I asked her, like, ‘Do you have hobbies, Gal?'” said McKinnon, “and she was like, ‘I love to go to the beach, I love to paddle board, I love to watch my children run on the sand, I love to go to the Maldives. Do you have a hobby, Kate?’ I was like, ‘I watch Dateline!’”
McKinnon talks about how SNL costar Aidy Bryant and herself ended up spending a great deal of time with Gadot during the week and marveled at what her life was like in comparison to theirs. “We talked to her a lot and we realized, ‘Oh, okay, now we are Midwestern toads compared to this Mediterranean goddess,” she said. “Everything she says is like a prophecy.”
She then moved on to discuss the awkward truth session Gadot pressed on everyone during the weekly SNL cast dinner. Instead of talking movies or tv as per usual, Gadot asked everybody to reveal something they’ve never told anybody. Even producer Lorne Michaels took part, that’s how undeniable Wonder Woman is. “She changed the game, she flipped the script!”
