As someone who went to art school, I can tell you wholeheartedly it isn’t a necessary endeavor if you want to create art. Drop paint on a canvas from the roof of your apartment. Stuff 40 teddybears into a clear duffle bag. Throw up on a plastic lawn flamingo. There’s no rules. It’s all modern art.
All art is subjective, but can we agree that most modern art is a joke? The rule should be: if a 4 year old could’ve made it, it isn’t art. I think that’s fair. No one should be selling a sculpture for $50,000 thats just a dozen coat hangers balled up on a table. I mean, even these people ended up creating “modern art” by accident.
