You know how when you’ve been calling someone at work John for a month and then find out he’s actually named Jay, but for some reason never corrected you? That’s how the whole Internet feels about it’s queen, Chrissy Teigen, right now. As you’re reading her name, you’re probably pronouncing it a certain way in your head. That way is almost certainly, completely wrong.
It all started with a viral clip about how Ariana Grande pronounces her name. Once again, prepare to have your mind blown wide open. The clip comes from radio program The Kyle and Jackie O Show, and in it, you can hear Grande say her own name. It’s not “grande” like the drink, it sounds more like “grandy,” rhymes with brandy. Very shocking that we’ve all been saying Ariana Grande’s name wrong for so long and that she’s never said a darn thing about it:
i was today years old when i found out how to actually pronounce Ariana Grande’s name ???? pic.twitter.com/24caB2aoiP

You know how innocent you have to be to allow a world to pronounce yo last name wrong yo whole life and just go along with it? https://t.co/aR7RNzhejV

Then someone pointed out that Grande isn’t the only super star who just lets us say her name wrong all the time. Chrissy Teigen is also on the list of most indulgent celebrities, apparently:
Well we pronounce @chrissyteigen's name wrong all the time https://t.co/wdqUd8NVd5

Teigen then came into confirm. I’m honestly so, so embarrassed for alway saying her last name incorrectly even though I’ve never had the opportunity to say it out loud on camera:
word! gave up a long time ago. last name is tie-gen not tee-gen https://t.co/M9EvS9pTrW

It seems like Chrissy Teigen long ago gave up on her battle over her surname. She even admitted she sometimes “corrects” people who say it right to the incorrect pronunciation. I relate to this a lot, as someone who does not actually pronounce their name as “Amy.” I’ve considered it, just to make my life easier, but I’m not ready to give in.
I know. I even correct people when they say it correctly. it’s all v effed up https://t.co/aJkweIiL7H

I don’t correct people, ever. They can call me Janet and I won’t. Wrong order? I’ll eat it. Taxi going to the wrong airport? I’ll change my flight. https://t.co/eSZDvKRaRK

I don’t correct people but I do I don’t know im so tired please let me go

Teigen is experiencing a lot of emotions over this reveal. She finally decided it was time to end the lie, and had her mother confirm the original pronunciation. What mom says, goes:

The world we knew has changed. Chrissy Teigen is a different Chrissy Teigen than she was before.
