On Wednesday, Donald Trump broke his post-State of the Union Twitter silence to tweet an absolute falsehood about his State of the Union audience
Thank you for all of the nice compliments and reviews on the State of the Union speech. 45.6 million people watched, the highest number in history. @FoxNews beat every other Network, for the first time ever, with 11.7 million people tuning in. Delivered from the heart!

According to TIME and the Nielsen data, Trump’s first State of the Union brought in 45.6 million viewers while “48 million people tuned in to watch Obama in 2010; 51.7 million tuned in to Bush in 2002; and 45.8 million tuned in for Clinton in 1994.” So not only was Trump’s State of the Union viewership not the highest ever, it was actually one of the lowest of the past 25 years. Sad! Donald Trump is right about one thing though…
