Raising a child? Yes, ladies, the struggle is real. It truly is. Being a mom myself, I absolutely love it –even though I am beyond exhausted by the end of the day. EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. I never thought being a mom to a 2-year-old would be that tiring. When I grew up, I was the only child and I thought my mom had it easy only taking care of me. Well, here I am with only one child, still struggling and now realizing what it must be like for moms who have more than one.
So, I’m here to say: you go, mamas! Yes, I will be honest and say that I have my moments where I want to have another child, but for now one is good. God bless you all who have more than one and still keep it together.
I know I am not the only mom out there who goes through these frustrating moments – especially moms with a bunch of children. Here are some of the struggles I myself – and many other moms out there – go through each day.
10. Sleeping is not a normal thing anymore, at all, ever.
I can’t remember the last time I have gotten a full nights’ rest or even slept in past 7 a.m. Tired is an understatement. It’s a normal thing these days for me, being tired and running on coffee. Most moms barely get the full 8 hours we are supposed to get. Luckily, the older the get, they longer they will sleep. Thank god for coffee!
9. Going grocery shopping went from therapeutic to impossible.
Before having kids, I’d love to grocery shop and make new recipes, buy new things and try out new foods. Now, with a baby with me – this just calls for a disaster. If they don’t get what they want, bring on the tantrums! If you look away for even a moment, be ready to find security and page them on the loudspeaker. Bring toys, books – anything to keep the occupied.
8. Leaving the house on time – haha, right.
This is a hard one even if you only have one child. Whether it’s leaving on time or making sure you have everything before you leave the house, especially if you have a baby, your diaper bag is packed so full that it makes you feel like you are carrying a suitcase. Your husband, your child and you combined – it’s impossible to remember everything. You end up having to turn around seven times to get that “one thing you missed.”
