One of the best things about the Super Bowl, besides the actual game and all of the fattening food you’re “allowed” to enjoy, is obviously the commercials. This year, we saw an abundance of tear-jerking commercials from big companies showing how “together” America is (sike), a lot of trying to “change the conversation” from Tide, and an awkward Scientology ad absolutely no one asked for. While some of the ads were pretty crappy and fell short, there was a true winner this year. Although the New York Giants played like absolute garbage this season (and I can say that because I’m a Giants fan), they did deliver at the Super Bowl–in the ads.
Eli Manning was a feature of several Super Bowl ad slots, but the best one overall had to be the moment where he and receiver Odell Beckham Jr. recreated the iconic Dirty Dancing scene where Baby gets lifted in the air–every girl’s favorite movie moment.
Hands down, this was one of the greatest (if not the greatest) Super Bowl ad I saw this year. Lesson learned? Eli Manning has no rhythm, at all, but–he’s strong AF. Also, how did they get down everything from the moves to the smiles and mannerisms of the actual movie? Bravo, boys.
Twitter, obviously, was obsessed with this ad and moment.
