During the Grammys on Sunday night, many viewers couldn’t get past one conspicuously irksome detail: the number of female nominees was minuscule.
Lorde was the only woman nominated for Best Album of the Year, and yet she was not invited to perform a solo set as part of her nomination. Kesha heartwrenching song about forgiving her sexual abuser, “Praying,” lost to Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” which amounts to little more than an ode to a woman’s body. Audience members were so frustrated by the imbalance that the hashtag #GrammysSoMale began trending on Twitter.
lorde is pissed as she should be. she was the only woman in the album of the year category. she was the only nominee that wasn’t offered a performance tonight. she was snubbed & it’s just really unfair. it’s hard because society doesn’t appreciate deep lyrics. #GRAMMYs

GAGA GOT ROBBED. KESHA GOT ROBBED. SZA GOT ROBBED. LORDE GOT ROBBED. ONLY ONE WOMAN WON IN THE MAJOR CATEGORIES — ALESSIA CARA.
And the Recording Academy has the audacity to use these women as promos and advertisements for their organization?! #GRAMMYs #GrammysSoMale
