For many women, having your period is something that is always supposed to remain under wraps — an inevitability of nature that is almost meant to be treated like a dirty little secret.

However, one young artist in Spain is looking to alter the way that people view their body’s “imperfections.” Zinteta is 22-years-old, and she uses glitter and brightly colored paints to highlight body features that society has historically told us we should hide, such as stretch marks, body hair, scars and period blood.

Zinteta endeavors to communicate that these “flaws” are present in all humans — so why do we insist on calling them “flaws”?

Instead of covering up her stretch marks, Zinteta uses paint to create a zebra-like rainbow effect on her skin, highlighting the beautiful natural pattern.
