The Creator Of ‘Arrested Development’ Just Dropped Some Big News About The Show

“On the next Arrested Development.” It was a staple phrase of the popular Fox series that viewers thought they’d never hear again after 2006. Then, Netflix swooped in like an angel and delivered on a return to the wacky world of the Bluth family, giving life to the old series. As if fans weren’t already spoiled, Netflix re-upped the show for a fifth season and now series creator, Mitch Hurwitz, is coming out of left field with two surprising bombshells.

In a Facebook post on the Arrested Development official page, Hurwitz revealed that not only was season five on the way, it would be arriving “Like real soon. Like, if you knew when, you would not be wrong to be thinking ‘why are we all just hearing this now?” He didn’t give an actual date yet, stating that it would be “announced shortly.”

As if that weren’t exciting enough, he had one more “exciting update.” On May 4th, 2018, known for being the day of the Bluth family’s “Cinco de Cuatro” pseudo-holiday, Netflix will be releasing a remixed version of the show’s fourth season. Titled Arrested Development Season 4 Remix: Fateful Consequences, Hurwitz recut the unique style of storytelling used, described as “Rashomon-style,” to fit into the series’ normal method of storytelling. Rashomon-style, as Hurwitz describes it, is when individual episodes are “dedicated to the adventure of one member of the Bluth family.” On why he decided to retool the fourth season, Hurwitz jokes he did it “as an experiment to find out… ‘if I could make some money.”
