Trump’s Lawyers Have A Plan To Stop Robert Mueller— We Hope It Doesn’t Work

President Trump’s legal counsel says it’s getting sick of the FBI and Justice Department’s “witch hunt” regarding whether his campaign had any form of collusion involving Russia. Apparently, the president’s legal team is now trying to start their own investigation of those investigating him. Trump wants to form a “special second council” to begin looking into the special council put together specifically to look into his campaign…a meta council.

Fox News reported about what his lawyer referred to as a “conflict of interest within the Department of Justice.” It seems Bruce Ohr— the Senior official who was demoted— lost his standing due to his wife’s employment.

Apparently, Nellie H. Ohr had previously worked for the firm Fusion GPS, and Bruce Ohr had been demoted for not being upfront about meeting with the firm. This is a big deal, because a dossier put together by Fusion GPS supposedly contains some pretty serious (albeit unconfirmed) allegations against the president.

At this point, it’s unclear whether Mrs. Ohr is involved in the special council’s investigation, but it’s certainly interesting to keep an eye on. On his end, Donald Trump has repeatedly condemned the investigation into his campaign, calling it unfounded and fabricated. His lawyer Jay Sekulow spoke about the investigation Monday:

″The Department of Justice and FBI cannot ignore the multiple problems that have been created by these obvious conflicts of interests, These new revelations require the appointment of a special counsel to investigate.”

Despite there being rumors that Trump wanted to fire Robert Mueller— who is leading the investigation— Trump’s lawyers say they’re sticking with him and will fully cooperate because he apparently has has nothing to hide. Their plan is to “get to the finish line”…good luck with that.

Reports of this meta-special-council come after conflict of interest allegations from the Justice Department. Earlier this month, Mueller reassigned highly regarded FBI agent Peter Strzok after it was discovered the agent had been sending anti-Trump text messages to a lawyer working on Mueller’s. It should be interesting to see how this all plays out in the days to come. Hopefully, we can get some truth out of this situation.
