Popular YouTuber Logan Paul Put Up A Video Of A Dead Body And People Are Justly Furious

Logan ended up releasing an apology about the video after receiving a ton of criticism for the disturbing video.  How misguided can one be to think of joking about something as serious as depression and suicide is a good idea? Not only that but to try and make a profit off of someone’s pain and suffering. It’s disgusting to think about. If this video was some fake publicity stunt, it’s equally disgusting to use something as serious as suicide as a device to generate more popularity.

“Where do I begin…

Let’s start with this –

I’m sorry.

This is a first for me. I’ve never faced criticism like this before, because I’ve never made a mistake like this before. I’m surrounded by good people and believe I make good decisions, but I’m still a human being. I can be wrong.

I didn’t do it for views. I get views. I did it because I thought I could make a positive ripple on the internet, not cause a monsoon of negativity. That’s never the intention. I intended to raise awareness for suicide and suicide prevention and while I thought “if this video saves just ONE life, it’ll be worth it,” I was misguided by shock and awe, as portrayed in the video. I still am.

I do this sh*t every day. I’ve made a 15 minute TV show EVERY SINGLE DAY for the past 460+ days. One may understand that it’s easy to get caught up in the moment without fully weighing the possible ramifications.

I’m often reminded of how big of a reach I truly have & with great power comes great responsiblity… for the first time in my life I’m regretful to say I handled that power incorrectly. It won’t happen again.

I love everyone. I believe in people. I’m out here. Peace #Logang4Life”

Not many people are buying the apology, and I don’t think I am either. If you got a chance to view the video before it was removed, you’d realize how disturbing it was that Logan could just stand 2 feet away from someone who just committed suicide and continue to make jokes and put on a show. Somethings surpass the importance of your 10-minute vlog, you could have handled the situation like a decent human and found 10 minutes of content elsewhere throughout your day.

Do better, Logan.

No matter how you rationalize it, poor judgment, a moment of weakness, a mistake you just have to be better. Anyone with a platform to reach over 15 million people most of them being kids should absolutely know better. It’s inexcusable, and that’s why people are calling for Logan Paul to be banned from YouTube. YouTube has doled out harsher penalties for less offensive behavior in the past. We’ll have to wait and see how they plan on handling one of their golden boys.

Sadly, he’s likely just too valuable to YouTube to have any real punishment for such an irresponsible use of a no doubt impressive platform that he built. No one would be shocked if he were to see absolutely zero consequences for his actions from at least from YouTube directly. Let’s hope he realizes how unfunny and severe suicide and depression really are.

Suicide should is NEVER a joke. If you or someone you know is going through a rough time, feeling depressed, or thinking about self-harm, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or you can always turn to National Suicide Prevention Lifeline’s website.
