Conspiracy Theorists Have Ideas About Tragic Speed Train Accident—And They Need To Stop

If you hadn’t heard, there was an accident involving an Amtrak train that derailed. It happened just south of Seatle yesterday killing three people and injuring a few dozen. If you ask Alt-right online activist Jack Posobiec, he thinks this crash is some form of strange conspiracy. Obviously, the genius who is best known for his “Pizzagate” conspiracy has a new scandalous take on this tragedy. His take on the matter seems to link ‘Antifa’ to the tragic Amtrak derailment.

Posobiec’s theory stems from a recently removed blog that was posted in April. it was published on the website Puget Sound Anarchists. Since being removed it’s been republished you can take a look at the archived version of the blog here. The post claims that activists have been allegedly pouring concrete on railroad tracks throughout Washington in an attempt to protest fracking going on throughout the state. The post goes on to say:

Early in the morning of April 20th we poured concrete on the train tracks that lead out of the Port of Olympia to block any trains from using the tracks.

We took precautions to notify BNSF (the train company) – we called them and we used wires to send a signal that the tracks were blocked.

We did this not to avoid damaging a train, nothing would bring bigger grins to our faces, but to avoid the risk of injuring railway workers.

As of now, it’s being reported the Amtrak train was traveling at speeds upwards of 50 mph above the speed limit before the deadly derailment took place. Posobiec wasn’t the only conspiracist to share his idea about Antifa’s involvement in the Amtrak crash. The founder of far-right website Gateway Pundit, Jim Hoft tweeted out a Gateway Pundit article accusing “It’s Going Down!” an Antifa related group he refers to as ” terrorists” of covering up their associations with the crash.

An Alt-right social media figure Mike Cernovich also came out to accuse “It’s Going Down!” of some form of involvement with the tragedy. He went as far as tweeting this video proving the group “bragging” about the pouring of concrete on the tracks.

Following this video that he tweeted out accusing the Antifa group of sabotaging train tracks in Olympia, Washington back in April. Cernovich claims since then this video has been removed from the group’s website. A member of the editorial team with “It’s Going Down!” went on to share in an interview with BuzzFeed that the post was taken down months ago due to the fact it was continuously taken out of context and was being blown out of proportion. Cernovich later went on to Tweet more theories tying Antifa groups to the Amtrak derailment.

Not everyone is ready to strap on their tinfoil hats and many people didn’t take kindly to the seemingly outlandish accusations. Now Cernovich claims he isn’t accusing anyone of foul play here, he then went on to share a few more thoughts on Twitter.

Don’t drink the Kool-aid

It’s safe to say not everyone was buying what this conspiracy theorists were selling. It seems a bit outlandish and you know it’s been proved the train was derailed due to high speeds. Keep up the awesome theories though, fellas. I’m not sure I can put it any better our friend Mike here.
