People on Twitter were impressed and grateful for his commentary on depression, seeing as it’s a common illness many of us suffer from on an everyday basis.
Thank you for talking about this. Medication has been a godsend for me. Depression a disease and needs to be regarded as such.

Andy, as someone with depression, I recognize your pain and appreciate your words. That said, cursing out someone with ~500 followers seems unhelpful. You can use your platform to dispel myths about mental health without punching down.

I spent 10 years telling myself my depression and anxiety were a choice.
They are not. They are genetic and they nearly killed me. Admitting I didn't chose to be this way saved my life.

Thank you for this. As a person who objectively has his life together & is comfortable financially/career wise. I still can’t shake the feeling that I’m a failure somehow & cannot understand why I am unhappy. I understand that feeling all too well.

Always been a fan, Andy. And can sadly relate. Your articulation of what it’s like is perhaps the best I’ve ever heard. I wish you strength in the fight. ✌️

As a person who has battled depression for 30 years…thank you Andy! I can't just cheer up or look on the bright side of things. I have to fight to be here, I wish I didn't have to.

I have tried many times to live like depression is a choice. It does not work. Eventually I find myself fantasizing about being dead. Anyone who says this crap does not understand what depression really is.
