Blake Shelton Bravely Reads Cruel Tweets About Him Winning ‘Sexiest Man Alive’

Country star Blake Shelton was named People’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for 2017 and, at least according to Twitter, folks were largely upset with this choice. However, you’ve gotta give it to him. At least the man isn’t afraid to poke some fun at himself.

Shelton recently visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where he read a bunch of mean tweets about his win backstage. He posted the video to his Twitter account, with a cheeky caption reading “Thank y’all for the supportive words! #donthatemebecauseimbeautiful.”

“Hey guys, Blake Shelton here,” begins the video. “I’m backstage at the Ellen show and I’m just wallowing, celebrating my People magazine ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ honor that’s been bestowed upon me, and I wanted to look at social media and see what’s being said out there by my supportive people. So I just wanted to read you some of my favorite mean posts.”

One of the tweets read, “Woke up this morning to the news that Blake Shelton is the Sexiest Man Alive. RIP every sexy man in the world who died in the ‘Great Sexy Plague of 2017’ overnight. You will be missed.”

Another one read: “Blake Shelton looks like the dad in a drug commercial where they list off the side effects at the end while you watch him build a birdhouse.” Watch Shelton read more mean tweets below:
